Film night with OGS and Magdalen Film Society

26/01/2009 - 19:30
26/01/2009 - 23:30

The Gastro society (OGS) and Magdalen Film Society have orgainsed an evening of food related films for next monday (the 26th). They are showing:

Babette's Feast - 7.30pm

From this
simple story, the film creates a delicate and moving picture of the
life of a small community, and its gradual realisation that spiritual
life must be balanced with sensory pleasure. The climactic feast is
quite simply the most beautiful vision of food ever committed to film.
It is the kind of food porn Nigella Lawson can only dream of.
Sideways - 9.20pm

The
mid-life crises of two hapless Californian singletons on a weekend
amongst the vineyards of Santa Barbara, sampling its wines and finding
bitter truths about themselves at the bottoms of their glasses. The
main characters are portrayed with neurotic hilarity and all-too
painful honesty. Refreshingly free of saccharine sentimentality.
So come along to Magdalen College theatre for what should be a fun evening.
